FAQ
We have designed our Coast Freshe Cold Plunge to be aesthetically pleasing for inside and outside settings. Using state of the art insulation materials our Coast Freshe Cold Plunge can be enjoyed in any environment. You can use in hot or cold climates and even during long periods of freezing for which we recommend our Hot & Cold Coast Freshe Hot Soak unit.
Putting a Heater/Chiller unit inside the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge rather than stand alone outside the tub offers several important benefits including:
- More efficient cooling: A Heater/Chiller unit inside the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge cools the water more efficiently than a outside standalone unit because it eliminates the need for long hoses or pipes that can cause heat loss. This means that the water can be cooled faster and more effectively, which can enhance the benefits of cold-water therapy.
- Consistent temperature: A Heater/Chiller unit inside the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge maintains a consistent temperature throughout the water, which is important for achieving the desired therapeutic effects. With a standalone unit outside the tub, the temperature may vary depending on the distance between the unit and the tub, which can affect the effectiveness and safety of the therapy.
- Space-saving: A Heater/Chiller unit inside the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge can save space and reduce clutter in the room. With a standalone unit outside the tub, you may need to find a separate location to store it, which can be inconvenient.
- Ease of use: A Heater/Chiller unit inside the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge is easier to use because it eliminates the need for additional equipment or setup. With a standalone unit outside the tub, you need to connect hoses or pipes, which can be time-consuming and complicated.
- More cost-effective: A chiller unit inside the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge is more cost-effective in the long run because it can reduce water consumption and energy costs. With a standalone unit outside the, you may need to use more water and energy to achieve the desired temperature, which can increase your utility bills.
The Coast Freshe Cold Plunge gets all the way down to 3 C/37 F degrees. No need for bags of ice!
Testing indoors the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge cooled at 10 to 12 C/50 to 54 F degrees per hour,
This can vary on how experienced you are in cold plunging.
When you first begin we recommend to try and make it between 90 seconds and 3 minutes. Within that time frame focus on getting to a calm state of mind before getting out of the water to reap the mental health benefits.

The recommended temperature range for a Coast Freshe Cold Plunge is between 10-15 C/50-60 F. This temperature range is generally considered safe and effective for providing the desired therapeutic effects of cold-water immersion. It is important to consider individual cold tolerance and specific health considerations when selecting the ideal temperature for a cold plunge. Gradually acclimating to colder temperatures over time and being mindful of the body's reactions can help ensure a safe and effective experience. Noise levels can be subjective and may depend on individual preferences. Some people may find the sound of the cooling unit soothing, while others may find it sometimes distracting.
Reasons why it is important to be able to fully lay down in the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge:
Increased benefits: The Coast Freshe Coast Plunge can deliver a wide range of benefits, including decreased inflammation, improved mental resilience and discipline, and reduced stress. By fully laying down in the cold water, more of the body is exposed to the cold, which can enhance the benefits of the therapy.
Activation of the vagus nerve: Submerging the upper part of the neck in the water can activate the vagus nerve, which can lead to a fuller hormonal response and maximize benefits like anti-inflammatory response and mood boosting.
Improved breathing: Breathing intentionally can help the body and mind relax by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. By laying down in the cold water, it is easier to focus on breathing and achieve a more relaxed state.
Better cardiovascular health: The constriction and dilation of blood vessels that occurs during cold plunging can be like a workout for the blood vessels, which can help improve cardiovascular health.
The Coast Freshe Cold Plunge has been designed to accommodate all sizes and body shapes to ensure that you can fully lay down and you don’t have to buy different model sizes for different heights.
How to
Air can sometimes get trapped in your Coast Freshe Cold Plunge and can lead to low flow, no flow, or excessive bubbling. The following explains how to flush the air out of the system.
If you are experiencing decreased, or no flow, this could be caused by water in the chiller freezing.
If the chiller is still running, or it is below freezing outside while there is poor/no flow, the water in the reservoir can freeze.
If you believe you have a frozen chiller please do the following...
- Completely drain your Coast Freshe Cold Plunge. CLICK HERE for directions.
- Bring your water filter canister and chiller inside.
- After 4 hours check to see if your chiller has defrosted.
- Turn the chiller upside down to empty the water that is in there.
- Pour water into the "In" hole. Cover the "in" hole with your hand and turn the chiller upside down. If water comes out of the "out" hole your the chiller has defrosted.
- OR you can have a little fun by pouring water into the "in" hole and blowing into the "in" connection. If water comes shooting out of the "out" hole, then your chiller has defrosted. BEWARE - water can come out like a like a geyser using this method.
- It can sometimes take 24-48 hours to fully defrost a chiller.
- Fill up your Coast Freshe Cold Plunge to see if this solved your flow issue.
If this did not solve your issue, please CLICK HERE to get in touch with one of our Coast Freshe Cold Plunge Specialists.
We'll walk you through the process step by step, ensuring you can drain your chiller like a seasoned pro. But before we dive in, remember to power down your entire Coast Freshe Cold Plunge system for safety. Now, let's get started!
-
Power Down Your Entire Coast Freshe System:
-
Ensure your entire plunge system, including the chiller, is safely powered down and disconnected from any power source. Safety first!
-
Disconnect the "In" and "Out" Chiller Connections:
-
Locate the "In" and "Out" connections on your chiller.
-
Carefully disconnect these connections from the chiller. This will ensure water doesn't spray everywhere during the drainage process.
- Caution: Don't Rest the Ports on the Ground:
-
Here's the crucial part: Be extra cautious not to rest the "In" and "Out" ports directly on the ground. The ports are delicate and could break if they're subjected to too much pressure.
-
Let the Water Drain:
-
As your chiller is upside down, let gravity do its work. The water will naturally flow out from the "In" and "Out" ports.
-
Wait Until Fully Drained:
-
Be patient. Ensure that all the water has fully drained from the chiller before moving on.
- Allow the Chiller to Rest Before Turning it Back On:
-
Before you excitedly reconnect your chiller to the plunge system and power it back on, exercise a little patience.
-
It's essential to let the chiller rest for a minimum of 4 hours. This allows the coolant to settle and ensures optimal performance.
-
Rushing this step can lead to a chiller that fails to cool efficiently.
With these steps, you can confidently drain your chiller without any worries. Remember to handle those "In" and "Out" connections and ports with care, and enjoy the safe and hassle-free process. Now, you're ready to chill out or perform maintenance without a hitch.
Check green power switch on the back side of chiller
- Make sure that the chiller is plugged into the "cooling" outlet inside the electrical box.
- If the chiller is plugged into the power strip and not "cooling" the heater and chiller will fight each other and the water will not cool, or heat, the way it is intended.
Your chiller will not power on until you adjust the temperature on your chiller unit. Your "SV" (bottom number) must be at least 4 degrees lower than your "PV" (top number) for the chiller to power on.
When your chiller reaches the desired temperature your chiller will be "powered down." This is the normal function of the chiller unit, so that your chiller does not run 24/7 and waste energy. It will not power the chiller back on until the "PV" reached 4 degrees higher than your "SV."
Cold-only models
To control the temperature of standard cold plunge models, hold down the set button on the chiller until it beeps, lower it to the temperature you desire, and then hit the set button again to take us back to the current temperature of the water. Make sure the green switch is on, on the side of the chiller. |
Hot/Cold models
To control the temperature of your Coast Freshe Hot Soak you will use the chiller unit's thermostat on the back of the Plunge, while leaving your chiller temperature at 108° degrees Fahrenheit. |

Cleaning your chiller ventilation screens
1. Slide out the three magnetized screens and lay them out on the ground.
2. Using a damp cloth wipe both the outside and the inside of the chiller ventilation screens
3. Once all the dirt, grime and dust have been removed you can now then slide them back
We recommend doing this every other month. If you have your Coast Freshe Cold Plunge outdoors, this may need to be done once a month or more frequently depending on the dirt build up.
Initial set-up
Fill up the cold plunge with distilled or tap water. If the water contains mineral levels such that calcium deposits (scale) frequently build up on and around your faucets, it is recommended to use a prefilter.
On initial fill up, no chemicals are required since the water is fresh out of the tap. Chemical treatment of the water will begin after the first use or after two days (whichever comes first).
**Note: Before using the Cold Plunge, it is highly recommended to shower with hot water without the use of any soaps and rinse bathing suits with hot water as well. This is to ensure the removal of any creams, lotions, soaps, oils, make-up, detergents, deodorant, etc. so that these residues do not leach into the Cold Plunge water. Following this step before using your Cold Plunge will ensure a more enjoyable experience, it will increase your ease of water maintenance significantly, and keep your water fresher for longer.
Steps for adding balancing chemicals:
To test the water, quickly dip a test strip into the water and pull it out to observe the colour change on the strip, the colour change takes 5-10 seconds with cold water.
Start by assuring the alkalinity is approximately 100-120 ppm. To increase the alkalinity, add Alkalinity Booster in ½ cap increments and stir the water to make sure it dissolves.
Once the water alkalinity is around 100-120 ppm, check the pH and make sure it’s somewhere in the range of 7.4 – 7.8. To increase the pH, add pH UP in ¼ cap increments and to decrease the pH, add pH DOWN in ¼ cap increments. It’s important to add pH chemicals in small increments to assure you achieve the 7.4 - 7.8 range.
Steps for sanitizing the water:
Once the water is balanced (alkalinity 100 – 120 ppm, pH 7.4 – 7.8), then it’s ready for sanitizing. Add ¼ cap (approximately 1 tbsp) of Harmonize after using the Cold Plunge, stir the water to assure the sanitizer dissolves and leave the cover open for 15 minutes to allow the chlorine to off-gas.
Maintain the Cold Plunge sanitizer (chlorine) level around 0.5 – 1 ppm when using. This will minimize skin irritation and allow for a better experience.

The replacement Coast Freshe Cold Plunge warranty will be equal to the balance, if any, remaining on the original Coast Freshe Cold Plunge. Safety covers are not included in the Coast Spas Manufacturing Limited Warranty.

designated representative determines that the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge has been improperly installed or improperly supported (See instruction Manual for installation
instructions), subject to alteration, misuse or abuse, or if any repairs on the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge are attempted by anyone other than an authorized representative of
Coast Spas Manufacturing Inc.; or if failure is caused by accident, acts of nature, acts of God, or other causes beyond the control of CSMI. Neglect, misuse, and abuse include any
installation, operation, or maintenance of the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge other than by the instructions contained in the owner’s manual provided with the Coast
Freshe Cold Plunge, including, but not limited to damage caused by operation outside the range of 34 degrees Fahrenheit and 116 degrees Fahrenheit or 1 degree Celsius and 47

sunlight, exposure to citrus-based cleaning agents, exposed to harsh and aggressive chemicals or cleaning agents or any other substance proved to be dangerous to the
acrylic shell surface. Cosmetic scratches, gouges and crazing are not considered cracks and are not covered. A phenomenon referred to as “crazing” in the spa industry could
occur to any metal essence, blush, or opal acrylic. This phenomenon is strictly cosmetic and does not affect the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge's structural integrity. This phenomenon
would not be a warrantable defect. This Limited Warranty does not provide coverage for the Coast Freshe Cold Plunge cover (see separate manufacturer’s cover warranty), any
